RAISING LITERACY, LIFTING COMMUNITIES [by Loren Sonnenberg & Read to Succeed Buffalo] illustrates how low literacy negatively impacts the lives of many Buffalo residents and documents the positive effects had by Read to Succeed, an organization that works to empower communities by improving literacy.
The mission of Read to Succeed Buffalo is to mobilize the community to improve student achievement by creating a community-wide priority on literacy for children from birth to age 8.
Loren Sonnenberg is a documentary filmmaker who has earned a B.A. in Media Study and an M.F.A. in Media Arts Production from SUNY at Buffalo where he has also taught new media tools and skills.
