We are very proud to announce that one of our Buffalo Youth Media Institute short films “This Needs to Change” was selected and will be screened at this year’s National Film Festival for Talented Youth! Out of over 1200 films, this was one of the 200 selected to be screened at the festival.

Our kids make honest and thoughtful work and we are so happy that they are being recognized. Thank you to our partners at the Buffalo Center for Art & Technology and our collaborators on this project Tiny Circus.

Squeaky Wheel is pleased to welcome AmeriCorps VISTA member Alex Thayer as Education Coordinator for the coming year.  Alex will be helping to strengthen and expand the organization’s educational offerings through fundraising, promotional, and systems work.

Alex earned his B.A. in Digital Media Studies at the University at Buffalo, then went on to teach English as Second Language in Madrid, Spain. He has taught youth media arts and writing workshops here at Squeaky Wheel as well as the Just Buffalo Writing Center. Alex is currently completing his M.A. in English & Innovative Writing at the University at Buffalo, and is excited to become a member of our team!
