Kite + Chair: Eric Souther & Elisabeth Pellathy
Sat., Jan. 30th @ 7:30 pm       Location: Squeaky Wheel
Cost: Free

At 7:30pm, the Art Opening and Reception of KITE & CHAIR will feature two media installations in Squeaky Wheel's Upstairs Installation Gallery by Elisabeth Pellathy & Eric Souther.

Using a spy camera sewn to a kite, Pellathy investigates familiar locations from new perspectives and projects the collected footage onto a deliberately dysfunctional hand-made KITE.

Souther's Search Engine Vision "CHAIR" allows users to investigate the arbitrary language of virtual tags though an interactive interface of 1000 videos tagged CHAIR.

Both artists will be present at the opening and will hold a screening & lecture of their current work at 8pm. Souther's lecture of interactive work will include his explorations in MAX/Msp/Jitter (Technological Buddha, Sound Matter, Extensions of the Body) and Pellathy will talk about her conceptual process as she integrates emerging electronic technologies with traditional forms of art-making. She will also be presenting a series of prints during this show in Squeaky Wheel's Downstairs Gallery.

Both installations will be on view until March 6th.

Elisabeth Pellathy & Eric Souther are currently Graduate students at the Electronic Integrated Arts Program at the School of Art & Design at Alfred University.
