Squeaky Wheel seeks a dynamic, driven, personable and experienced Executive Director with exceptional writing skills who demonstrates a comprehensive understanding of all aspects of managing an arts organization. The position is an opportunity for a visionary arts leader to build the programming and profile of this nationally recognized organization. Strengths should include writing grants, overseeing programs and finances, and fostering relationships within a passionate constituency. 

Responsibilities

  • Work with Board of Directors and staff to develop and implement short and long term strategic plans and policies aligned with the organization’s mission.
  • Secure grants from private foundations, government and corporate sources to support general operation, exhibition and educational programs and capital initiatives.
  • Oversee the management of all employees, including hiring and termination, development, evaluation of performance and compensation and benefits.
  • Manage facilities and equipment, including developing organizational efficiencies through technology.
  • Manage and coordinate finances, budgets, fundraising and development plans.
  • Ensure the adequacy and integrity of financial operations including directing financial reporting, analysis, forecasting and budgeting.
  • Foster and maintain relationships with regional, national, and international audiences in the media arts, non-profit, and community development sectors. Develop a clear and concise message to tell the organization’s story.
  • Represent, promote, and advocate on behalf of the organization within larger media art fields.
  • Provide support and reinforcement to Board members to achieve organizational goals and communicate clearly with Board members about organization needs.
  • Oversee the recruitment and training of volunteers to fill specific skills/capacity gaps and the retention of valued volunteers.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years experience in non-profit arts organization or program management, serving in an executive or leadership position.
  • Bachelor degree; advanced degree in Media Arts, Arts Administration or related field preferred.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, and web and social media literacy.
  • Successful track record of grant writing and development of fundraising initiatives.
  • Ability to manage and inspire staff, and work with Board of Directors.
  • Ability to plan, direct and coordinate a broad range of programming activities.
  • Experience working with a variety of organizations, corporations, and community groups in building meaningful partnerships and programs.
  • Enthusiasm interacting with a broad array of people; ability to navigate local, regional, and national art communities.
  • Strong commitment to Squeaky Wheel’s equal access policies.
  • Experience with developing and executing operating budgets.
  • Embrace of experimentation and creativity.

COMPENSATION/BENEFITS
Salary and benefits are commensurate with experience, within the framework of the organization’s annual operating budget.

Job Title: Program Planner, Squeaky Wheel | Buffalo Media Resources and PUSH Buffalo
Reports to: Director of Education at Squeaky Wheel | Buffalo Media Resources
Responsible for: Media arts based educational and workforce development program
Status: Part-time

Squeaky Wheel | Buffalo Media Resources and PUSH Buffalo seek a qualified, motivated, and personable Program Planner, with experience developing and managing youth arts programming. The position will be in charge of structuring and implementing a youth focused media arts education and workforce development program in the Grant Street Neighborhood. We highly encourage prospective candidates to apply for the position by 01/15/16. 

Responsibilities 

  • Oversee the development of a long-term, youth media arts education program at PUSH Buffalo’s Grant Street Neighborhood Center that provides academic and career development experiences and pathways
  • Work with the Executive Director and the Director of Education at Squeaky Wheel, and the Director of Programs at PUSH to create and implement short and long term strategic plans and policies for a media arts based youth program
  • Structure and carry out a pilot version of the youth program
  • Represent, promote, and advocate on behalf of the organizations within the community, and the larger media art and social justice fields

Qualifications

  • Experience and successful track record in developing, implementing and/or managing youth based arts educational programming
  • Understanding of nonprofit arts and community organizations
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, web and social media literacy
  • Experience working with a variety of organizations, corporations, and community groups in building meaningful partnerships for program development
  • Cultural competency and knowledge of the shifting trends in Buffalo’s West Side community, and/or experience working with diverse socio and economic populations
  • Interest in arts education, community and workforce development
  • Strong commitment to Squeaky Wheel and PUSH Buffalo’s equal access policies
  • Embrace experimentation and creativity
COMPENSATION
