A studio class that explores the process and history of montage. We will compile, edit, appropriate, and discuss the piecing together of disparate sections of video, in order to mold a continuous whole. An open variety of video footage, text, music, and photographs will be the basis for these composites. Each student, during our 4 weeks, will construct a montage of their own and present it on the last class. Hybridity, sublimation, context, and connoisseurship will be discussed through ongoing presentations, as well as form, tone, pace, and condensation.
